Prama and Borough of Poole Arts Service have been working together on Mementos, a project that has brought together people living with dementia, their close family members / carers with artists and volunteers.
Artists Seiwa Cunningham and Rosie Edwards spent time engaging 12 participants with reminiscence, conversation and textiles-based art activities over a period of 20 weeks. Each participant with dementia worked closely with their family carer: sharing memories, exchanging stories and gathering personal mementos. The memory quilts that they produced celebrate their lives, families, hobbies and interests.
They will be exhibited in the Studio Bar at Lighthouse, Poole, BH15 1UG between 5th September and 7th October. Once returned to their creators they will provide a prompt for reminiscence for many years to come.
Mementos was made possible through the generous support of The BIG Lottery.
