Moving Well Workshops are 'dance-theatre' movement sessions for older people 50+ (we sometimes work with men, but on this occasion, we are looking specifically for women). You will get the chance to try out new dance-theatre skills, and look at ways of putting movement sequences together. As a company of older women, we understand about the physical stresses and strains of everyday life and we love working with people of all ages, shapes, sizes and bodies, so this is about loosening and limbering up, letting go, and have a laugh. No experience is necessary. Just wear loose clothing that you can move in, and bring a bottle of water. You can work in bare feet, or wear trainers/dance shoes ' whatever is most comfortable for you. Participants from previous Moving Well workshops said:
'¢ 'It's liberating!'
'¢ 'I liked the way the workshop was structured ' the balance between fun & thoughtfulness'
'¢ 'It's different from a normal exercise class '¦. the creativity comes from something we made'
Moving Memory Dance Theatre Company has been working in Kent for nearly 7 years. The core company is made up of six women aged between 53 and 84 years old who, alongside Creative Director, Sian Stevenson, lead participatory workshops and make amazing performances. They aim to challenge perceived notions of age, ageing and beauty; they celebrate the depth of individual experience, look for the extra-ordinary in the ordinary ' and have a lot of fun.
